Valerie Leung
Managing Director
Valerie Leung is a Managing Director in Asia Alternatives’ San Francisco office. Ms. Leung joined Asia Alternatives at inception and was based in Beijing until February 2011. Ms. Leung is on the Firm’s Investment Committee. Ms. Leung is primarily responsible for investor relations and investment monitoring.
Ms. Leung has over fifteen years of private equity investing experience; five years while based in Beijing, China. Prior to joining Asia Alternatives, Ms. Leung was a private equity portfolio manager for C.M. Capital Corporation (“CMC”), the investment arm of the Cha Group. Since 2001, Ms. Leung managed a private equity portfolio established in 1980, comprising over 85 private equity and venture capital funds. In 2005, Ms. Leung served on the Board of Directors for the Institutional Limited Partners Association (“ILPA”).
Prior to her involvement with CMC, Ms. Leung was a Corporate Finance Manager at Deloitte & Touche’s San Francisco office. Her mandate was serving private equity clients in the San Francisco Bay Area and publishing a quarterly technology publication titled “The Blue Paper.” Prior to Deloitte, Ms. Leung spent three years at Household Finance Corporation (“HFC”), the consumer finance arm of Fortune 500 Household International (“HI”).
Ms. Leung received an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from DePaul University (2000) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Rockford College. Ms. Leung is conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
Ms. Leung serves on DePaul University’s Finance Advisory Board.
