Valerie A. Cooper is a Director in the Beijing office where she has been since January 2006. Ms. Cooper is primarily responsible for China private equity and venture capital investment monitoring, helping to build-out the Firm's Beijing office and investor relations.

Prior to joining Asia Alternatives, Ms. Cooper was a Private Equity Portfolio Manager for C.M. Capital Corporation ("CMC"), the investment arm of the Cha Group. Since 2001, Ms. Cooper managed a private equity portfolio established in 1980, comprising over 85 funds, of which over 20 were venture capital firms and over 15 were buyout firms. In 2005, Ms. Cooper served on the Board of Directors for the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA).

Prior to her involvement with CMC, Ms. Cooper was a Manager at Deloitte & Touche in the Corporate Finance Department. Her mandate was serving private equity clients in the San Francisco Bay area and publishing a quarterly technology publication titled "The Blue Paper". Prior to Deloitte, Ms. Cooper spent three years at Household Finance Corporation ("HFC"), the consumer finance arm of Fortune 500 Household International ("HI").

Ms. Cooper received an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from DePaul University (2000) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Rockford College. She is conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
